MATIC SUBBED OFF AGAINST BRIGHTON

Serbia international NemanjaMatic was subbed off at the start of the second half of the big defeat to hosts Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League. The Serbia national team midfielder was given a start for the game in the middle of the park by interim Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnickalongside Scottish international Scott McTominay.

Manchester United didn’t make the best of starts to their League clash with the Seagulls on Saturday courtesy the strike from Ecuadorians midfielder Moises Caicedo on 15 minutes. His goal was the difference between the two sides at the half-time interval. Serbia international Matic was replaced at the interval by Uruguayan striker EdinsonCavani, but the change didn’t work as Manchester United went on to concede three goals in the second half. It was one of two changes made by Rangnick at the start of the second half with Brazil international Fred coming on for young Swedish forward Anthony Elanga as well.

Caicedo scored his first goal for Brighton when he gave them the lead in the first half at the expense of the Red Devils and Spanish fullback Marc Cucurella also scored his first goal for Brighton when he doubled the advantage four minutes into the second half. The Seagulls then scored twice in three minutes through Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard to make it a comprehensive win for the home team. German midfielder Gross added a second goal on 57 minutes before Trossard took the game further away from Manchester United with the fourth Brighton goal on the hour mark.

Manchester United came into the Brighton game with a decent form having picked up four points from their last two games against London teams namely Chelsea and Brentford. The two-match unbeaten run ended with the heavy defeat to the Seagulls who recorded the biggest win of their Premier League journey.
