Aleksandar Kolarov doesn’t like the way the Serbian fans have reacted to the performances of the national side of late.
The defender reckons that the fans should be giving more support to the players at this tough time, but, rather than that, they are hurling abuses and that is only denting the confidence of the team.
Most recently, Serbia played a European Championships qualifier versus Armenia and failed to win. In fact, they barely prevented a loss there with a leveller in the last moments.

Most recently, Serbia played a European Championships qualifier versus Armenia and failed to win. In fact, they barely prevented a loss there with a leveller in the last moments.
Instead of giving the team credit for hanging in there till the end and sneaking in that late goal, the Serbian fans started abusing the players on twitter and other social networking sites for their inability to come on top of a comparatively lesser equipped side Armenia.
Such sort of reaction pissed Kolarov off. Talking to a news channel later that night, the 28-year old said, “They (the fans) appear to be just waiting for a negative result so that they get the opportunity to say whatever they want. It does annoy us at times because we go out there and try our best. No player steps out to the pitch to get defeated.”
“As far as I am concerned, I am alright because I have the idea where I stand as a player. But, it’s not right at all for people to react this way. We feel we have been very harshly treated recently.”
The Serbian team could not make it either to the European Championships of 2012 or to the FIFA World Cup of this year. They did not get any support from their fans during their qualifying matches, not even during the home matches. The stadiums happened to be empty which was a real shame.
